On November 27th was the 2016 Elite PanAmerican Championship (Olympic distance). The race was hosted by the capital city of Argentina, Buenos Aires.
The women start was given at 1PM on Sunday. I did not have the best start and two girls quickly pulled away from the rest of the field and at the halfway through the swim we already had a 40s deficit. In the second lap I took the lead of the chase group and manage to come out of the water third, 50s behind the leaders.
We were a group of 6 girls to chase and before the halfway mark of the bike we caught the leaders making a group a 8. At that point, the group started to work less efficiently and we didn't get that much time on the chase group.
The run was definetly a challenge. With no surprise, I started getting blister on my feet at about 3k. I try to work through the pain and the heat, but I still have a lot to improve on for my 10k. I ended up taking 9th place which I was a little disappointed.
Next up: Altitude training camp in Cuenca, ECU,. in January.
